A crossover project between jazz and classical music formed by Martin van Hees - classical guitarist & composer -, Aktas Erdogan - classical/jazz guitarist & composer -, & Nello Biasini on percussion.
Three soloists, talented musicians, members of different ensembles and line-ups bring together sounds from the East-, the West-, and the Southern Cultures into their music. Apart from arrangements on jazz standards, the trio is performing their own original compositions influenced by classical, jazz, world and pop music.
Martin van Hees’ (1990) playing can be characterized by an outstanding musical expression and brilliant sound. He graduated in 2014 with Professor Zoran Dukic by the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague with excellence & distinction for his contribution to contemporary music. Parallel to his solo career, Martin is part of chamber ensembles, contemporary music ensembles and theatre/dance productions. He has performed in India (solo tour 2014), Thailand, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Greece (solo tour 2016) and the Netherlands. He received several prizes at International and National guitar competitions. Besides his repertoire Martin composes his own music mostly for the guitar with sentimental-melancholic melodies, occasionally developed into jazzy sounds.
Aktas Erdogan (1987) is a virtuoso young guitarist with background in both classical and jazz scene. He graduated in 2014 with Professor Enno Voorhorst by the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague. He also attended the jazz department for one year in Brussels Conservatoire with Fabien Degryse. Aktas has participated in various competitions and performed in different festivals in the Netherlands and Turkey. Parallel to his solo career as a classical guitarist, Aktas performs with various jazz formations, including his own quartet. Among his compositions is “Anne Gunaa” dedicated to his imprisoned journalist mother (2015), premiered by great artists; Erik Ineke, John Ruocco, Emrah Oguzturk, Abel Marcel and Steve Willem Zwannikand. Later on this piece is played on behalf of other imprisoned journalists in order to call attention of international community.
Nello Biasini (1991) is a drummer, educator and music producer. He holds two Bachelor’s Degrees with excellence - in Pop drums from Codarts University (The Netherlands) and Jazz drums from Conservatoire “A.Casella” (Italy) -. This year he finalizes his Master’s Degree in Studio Drumming under the guidance of Hans Eijkenaar and Martijn Vink at Codarts Uviversity (Rotterdam). Nello is performing with different line-ups such as GreyHeads, Codarts Funk Big Band, Netherlands Students Jazz Orchestra, Dichter Dichterbij, Aktas Erdogan quartet, Cruise Control On trio and more. During his carreer he has being involved in different styles of music; jazz, jazz funk, hip hop, electro funk, rap, cumbia, soul pop, trip hop, and folk.
